A March 2024 collision between an Arizona Department of Public Safety patrol vehicle and a Cochise County road grader in the J-Six community west of Benson is the subject of a negligence lawsuit filed by the injured trooper. An attorney for Cochise County responded to the lawsuit in January by asserting the trooper's own negligence caused the collision.
BISBEE – A lawsuit filed by an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper injured a year ago in an on-duty collision between her patrol vehicle and a Cochise County road grader has been assigned to arbitration, court documents show.
Trooper Iliana Magallanes suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the March 20, 2024, collision on Navajo Trail in the J-Six community west of Benson. She is suing for economic and personal damages not covered through her State employment.
